Padel camp in Indonesia: training and a tournament in Sumba
If you are looking for a padel camp in Indonesia, Eco Beach City on Sumba Island organises a Padel Camp & Tournament on its own court by the sea: a stretch of training followed by a tournament between participants. Sumba is about one hour by plane from Bali, and the padel and tennis courts are already built and open. Dates are published as each experience is confirmed, so there is no fixed calendar yet.
This article explains what the camp is, where it happens, how it connects to the rest of the community, and what is still to be announced.
Why padel, and why now
Padel has moved from a Spanish and Argentine habit to a global sport in a short time. According to the Playtomic Global Padel Report 2025, produced with Strategy& (PwC's strategy consulting business), the number of padel courts worldwide passed 50,000 for the first time, a 17% increase year on year, and 3,282 new clubs opened in 2024, roughly nine a day. The same report says padel is played in more than 90 countries.
That growth has a side effect many players know well: courts in big cities are busy, booked weeks ahead and often indoors. A camp somewhere quieter, with the sea next to the glass, is a different way to play.
What the Padel Camp & Tournament is
The Padel Camp & Tournament is one of 26 themed experiences Eco Beach City organises on Sumba. The idea is simple: several days built around padel, with training sessions to work on your game and a tournament among the people taking part to close it.
The full description, format and level guidance will live on the Padel Camp & Tournament page. We are not publishing names of coaches, session plans or prices here because they are confirmed together with the dates, and we would rather wait than guess.

Who it suits
- Players who already play at home and want a few focused days on court.
- Newer players who want to improve in a relaxed setting.
- Couples or friends who want a trip with a shared activity at its centre.
- Remote workers who want to combine time on court with work at the beachfront coworking.
The court
The padel court is on site, next to the sea. It is built and open, not a render or a plan. The tennis court is built and open too, which matters if you travel with someone who prefers tennis.
Padel or tennis? You do not have to choose
Eco Beach City also organises a Tennis Camp & Tournament with the same structure: training first, then a tournament. Many padel players come from tennis, and many tennis players are curious about padel. With both courts on the same site, it is easy to try the other sport between sessions.
Where it happens: Sumba
Sumba is an island in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, east of Bali. It is warm all year and has far fewer buildings than Bali. CNN Travel named it one of the best places to visit in 2024.
Eco Beach City sits inside a private seafront residence with 2 km of beach. Besides the courts, there is a beachfront coworking with Starlink internet, and guests already stay on site in the homes that are built.
Getting there
There are daily flights from Bali (Denpasar, DPS) to Tambolaka airport (TMC) in West Sumba. The flight takes about one hour, with morning departures around 9:00. Sumba also has Waingapu airport (WGP) in the east. You can find practical details on the how to get here page.

Off the court
A padel camp leaves time for the island. Sumba is known for its Marapu belief, ikat weaving, megalithic tombs and traditional villages. If you visit around February or March, you may catch Pasola, the ritual horseback jousting festival usually held in West Sumba.
The other experiences
Padel is one of 26 experiences. Others include Launch Your Startup, Build Your AI App, Yoga & Meditation Retreat, Singles Week, Salsa & Bachata Week, Kayak & Paddleboard Camp, Beach Volleyball Week and Entrepreneurs Week. They are not weekly events. Each one runs when it is confirmed, and its date is published then. You can see the full list on the experiences page.
How to take part: the community membership
Community members can take part in the experiences. The membership works like this:
- Price: €1,500, or 10 payments of €150 interest free. You start with €150.
- Two member cards are included.
- Stays: 1 to 6 weeks every year. One week is guaranteed, and more when there is space.
- 30 experience retreats: one a year, for 30 years.
- Not included: flights and meals. The membership is not property.
- If your first week does not convince you, the €150 you paid to join is refunded.
For a padel player, that means you can plan a yearly trip around the camp or the tournament once the dates are out, and use the rest of your weeks to play, work or rest.
An honest note on dates
We do not have dates for the Padel Camp & Tournament yet. Dates are published as each experience is confirmed. If you want to know before others, the membership is the most direct way to stay close to the community; otherwise, check the experience page from time to time.
